ART CORNER
Hello reader! This is Purple and Ozzie bringing you some awesome art! Before we dive in, we are looking for people like you to find and feature the talented artists in our community. If that sounds like something you are passionate about, please reach out to Yeshua or Carkas about co-hosting this segment!
Untitled by Mojango
Up first is a piece done by Mojango featuring a suited tiger lighting a cigarette on a dark night. The tiger’s face is lit up by the fire of the lighter and there are highlights coming from a moon hidden off in the distance. This piece gives such a nice spin to a casual moment. The tie and hair being in mid air from a gust of wind adds a touch of motion to the piece. The fire uses such a bright pop of yellow and orange compared to the rest of the color pallet, providing a nice contrast to the rest of the piece. All of these things make this piece captivating and incredibly interesting!
A dark simplicity bathes this piece, with the lighter’s flame being the warmest source of light illuminating the comparably small area of the tiger’s hands and face. The lack of movement of hair, fabric, and flame give the feeling of a still, windless twilight. Perhaps this is the moment right after getting off work, or in the seconds before a big deal is to be struck. Excellent work Mojango!
⊱────⊰✯⊱────⊰
Splash by JT Hoom
Next is a cheery piece by JT Hoom! Splash consists of a happy feline in a pool. I am a big fan of the vibes that this character gives off. The content and friendly expression on his face is an invitation to get in and splash along with him! Even though this art is done in more of a sketch-like style, the water on the hands and the shading on the body is done in a very natural and believable way.
Though the background of this sketchy piece is simplistic and limited, it does add to the overall feeling. A lack of super dark shadows lends itself to the appearance of a very bright environment, like a pond or pool at midday in an area with next to no shade. This invokes the feeling of a warm, breezy summer day, perfect for splashing around in the water!
Another great thing about this piece is the attention to anatomy. The artist did a fantastic job with the proportions and anatomy of this character. The subtle lines of muscles and shapes are well placed, but even the design of the fur color adds to the overall shape of the body. Great job JT!
⊱────⊰✯⊱────⊰
The Raccoon Next Door by RyRy Beans
Last but not least, we have a physical piece by RyRy Beans. The subject is an alternative aesthetic raccoon character with purple eyes. Overall, the coloring in this is incredibly well done. The white is supersaturated, the fur colors are well placed and chosen, and the purple eyes are a nice pop to the rest of the neutral palette. The clothes and accessories of the character are simple, but really add to the personality of the raccoon.
Linework in both the dark outlines and the white highlights adds a wonderful touch to this piece. The lines possess a slight sketchiness which lends itself very well to emphasize the physical, traditional aspects of the work. Additionally, the artwork having been done on a more cardboard-looking, natural brown canvas blends very well with the natural palette and fur of the subject, while also allowing the white highlights and eyes to stand out more prominently.
I am also a big fan of the expression and overall vibe of the work. The character has a calm expression, and she is leaning back in a very “chill” way. This is a character I would love to hang out with. Fantastic work RyRy!

SPECIES SPOTLIGHT
Hello readers, and welcome back to an exciting week of Species Spotlight! This is Danielle making a return as a guest host.
Before we put the spotlight on this week’s original species, I wish to let all of you know that we’re still looking to recruit more hosts for this segment. If you enjoy diving into species lore and/or find original species fascinating, then this might be for you! Feel free to message our boss, Yeshua, or our HR, Carkas, if you’re interested in hosting Species Spotlight.
This week, we will be taking a look at colorful morphing creatures called Fauxiions by cuddlepup!
Fauxii is a bubbly Fauxiion who is traveling to seek a permanent home where she feels safe and wanted. She has a natural body scent that smells sweet like the inside of a bakery. Don’t underestimate her though because she has super strength as well as the ability to fly and float around.
Fauxiions are colorful intelligent creatures from a planet called Cresstiive with an ability to morph their bodies. They use this ability in order to blend in with environments once they become mature enough, though most tend to mimic anything they see or activities they personally enjoy. Other things such as objects, hobbies, animals, or other creatures that they find interesting or are strongly attached to may influence their appearance. Sometimes a mix of these options may also influence their appearance. However, they cannot completely copy something or someone’s appearance; they can only take inspiration from them.
Fauxiions come in all shapes and sizes, though their height range is like that of humans but can be larger or smaller. A Fauxiion's body is very much artificial in nature akin to a doll; the only natural thing about them is the sprouts they grew from.
Thanks to their adaptability, a Faux is able to live almost anywhere and can be found in many places. Yet, in spite of being able to easily blend in with their surroundings and other species, Fauxiions are rejected and ostracized just as often as they are accepted into different species’ communities. Rejected Fauxiions often leave to travel place-to-place as a nomad or begin a search for a new permanent home. Though Fauxiions are naturally social creatures, there are some that are more shy, prefer to live life as a hermit, etc. They are as complex as humans in regards to intelligence and personality. Like humans, each Fauxiion has a distinct personality with their own talents, strengths, and weaknesses.
Fauxiion lifespans vary; some living up to 100 years while others live for thousands of years, if not more. Most elderly Fauxiions grow old and feeble while others remain youthful and unchanged. Regardless, elderly Fauxiions are regarded with respect and are cared for by their families. When a Fauxiion dies, their bodies either decay like a typical cadaver would, disintegrates into dust, becomes slime, water, or their bodies melt and become tiny sprouts which are said to hold miraculous healing properties. When a Fauxiion is dying, their first instinct is to locate any peaceful area in nature to quietly pass on so their bodies may become one with nature again. Fauxiions honor their fallen brethren by taking half of all of their remains to be buried in forests or their tribe's graveyard. For more information regarding their life cycle and where they come from, feel free to check out the species lore here.
Fauxiions are an open and traitless species, which means you’re welcome to create your own and allow your creativity to go wild. The possibilities are endless! However, please keep in mind that all Fauxiions are required to have hoodies and horns of some sort. A broken horn or two is fine as long as there is evidence of them. To help you get started, feel free to check out trait examples here. Please also be sure to credit cuddlepup for the species.
Looking to create your own Fauxiion? You can find this free to use base and more by cuddlepupp here.
If you have any questions regarding the species, feel free to take a look at the questions and answers here before contacting cuddlepupp.

ANIMAL OF THE WEEK
Hello animal enthusiasts, and welcome to another edition of Animal of the Week! This is Danielle once again popping in as a guest appearance.
Animal of the Week is a segment where we highlight an animal that is really cool, cute, creepy, or fascinating. Unfortunately, there won’t be a new coloring page illustration, but there will still be an adoptable character inspired by this week’s animal species colored by me. The best part? All proceeds made by said adopt will be donated to conservation charities!
Whenever possible, we do symbolically adopt the animal. However, sadly, only some animals have the privilege to have that as an option. Thus, we collect extra funds to donate to many different species conservation charities, donate towards wildlife rehabilitation programs, or send funds to scientists so that they can research underappreciated animal species. Join us on this fun adventure, and I hope that you, too, will enjoy these amazing animals!
Recently it was Lunar New Year, and since it's the year of the snakes, we're focusing on snakes!
Snakes include more than 3,000 species worldwide today. Modern snakes have been around for 5-10 million years and evolved from lizards as far back as 150 million years. The majority of snakes live in warm climates close to the equator. The farther north you are from the equator, the fewer species you will see.
Snakes are unique reptiles because they have a body shape that allows them to adapt to different habitats from arid deserts to tropical rainforests. The backbone (vertebra) of most snakes consist of 150-400 interconnecting bones, enabling extreme flexibility. The rest of a snake’s body is covered with rows of smaller, uniform scales. Each body scale is attached at one end and slightly overlaps the next, allowing the skin to contract and expand without bunching.
There are two types of body scales: keeled and smooth. Keeled scales have a small ridge or keel along the length of each scale while smooth scales do not. Body scales can sometimes help identify some snake species. Snakes usually move by contracting their belly muscles, but they also contract muscles that cause them to move from side to side in an S pattern. This is commonly referred to as slithering. They may also push against rocks and sticks to help them maneuver along on the ground.
All funds from this adopt will help go towards an animal conservation of Zed’s choosing. It will be available for $10. Please private message me on any of my platforms linked here to claim this adoptable.
⊱───⊰✯⊱───⊰
A huge thank you goes out to the animal ambassadors and Animal of the Week supporters who have helped make the world a little bit better for wildlife.
If you wish to help support us, you can find Zed’s Patreon for this passion project here. You can also find adoptables, free to use bases, and pay to use bases by Zed on their website.
As Coyote Peterson from Brave Wilderness says, stay wild, and we’ll see you on the next species adventure!

AVAILABLE ARTISTS
Hello fellow furs! Dozu here to bring you some of the best artists the fandom has to offer!
Before we get started, I wish to let all of you know that we’re looking to recruit more hosts for this segment. If you’re a connoisseur of furry art, then this might be for you! Feel free to message our boss, Yeshua, or our HR, Carkas, if you’re interested in hosting Available Artists.
Let’s get this party started!
⊱───⊰✯⊱───⊰
We start with @Tfiredoggo, a stellar artist who makes stunning art with colorful textured lineart and very expressive characters, especially in their ref sheets! The way they color the line art in their pieces to match the lighting or general mood of the piece helps bring personality to their characters.
You can find all about their commissions and terms of service here in their Carrd along with examples of their art. They can work with feral, anthro and even humanoid or fully human characters too so bring them anyone and they’ll work their magic!
⊱───⊰✯⊱───⊰
Next up we got @castial.bsky.social, a skilled artist with a semi-toony semi-realistic style that makes characters look almost animated or caught mid-action in each piece. This is another artist who works with either feral, anthro or humanoid/human characters, but this time with a more realistic touch, especially when it comes to animal characters.
You can find all their work in here in their Instagram page and Twitter page both in english and in Brazilian Portuguese. This artist works with a local app for Brazilian customers so if you live there do definitely check them out!
⊱───⊰✯⊱───⊰
Lastly we have WolfesGrxve, an artist who makes beautiful pieces of any character of your choosing. They have this knack for making fluffy looking characters look stunning with their added white lines on every fluffy bit to simulate hairs glistening in the light.
You can find all of their commission information here on their Carrd and check them out also on their Kofi and take a look at their queue on Trello!
⊱───⊰✯⊱───⊰
That is all I got for today. We’re always on the lookout for amazing artists to put in the spotlight, so do contact us if you’re interested!
Looking to recommend yourself or others for this segment? Feel free to fill out this form if interested. You can also submit content by emailing furryweeklysubmissions@gmail.com, or you can directly message me on any of my platforms.

CHARACTER INTERVIEW
How’s it going everyone? My name’s Yeshua and it’s good to be back with another Character Interview segment! If this is your first time checking out this section, this is where we take some time to get to know folks doing cool stuff here in the fandom.
YESHUA: Today we’re meeting Oddie to talk about a really neat project that took off in late 2024. Thanks for joining me, Oddie! I’ll let you introduce yourself real quick!
ODDIE: Hi! My name is Oddie, I'm 21, and I've been in the fandom for about 10 years now. My main fursona is a rabbit, Oddie, but many also know me from my fursuit, a wiener dog named Strudel.
YESHUA: It's great to meet you Oddie! I'm very excited to get to chat with you. Now, I know you mentioned your fursuit which implies you're a fursuiter, but for the people who are reading about you for the first time, can you tell me a little more about what you do here in the fandom? It's cool to hear you've been part of it for a whole decade!
ODDIE: Of course! I'm an artist, fursuiter, and conrunner. I have an art business, OddieBun Art! I'm very new to selling products with my art, but I really enjoy it! My first big convention appearance will be Anime Town Utah, in May. I've applied to several furry convention artist alleys, so I hope I get to travel and meet everyone!
I'm also a fursuiter. I love public suiting! I work with kids professionally, so I have a bit of extra experience I can put towards interacting with them, haha. Fursuiting for the kids and bringing them joy really makes everything worth it! And of course, I'm a conrunner! I started a convention here in Salt Lake City, Utah, called Spooktacufur!
YESHUA: Wow, you're definitely quite involved in the fandom! I want to focus on Spooktacufur since the thought of running a furry event is just super interesting and I would love to learn more about how it's been for you. Tell me a bit about the event itself if you could!
ODDIE: For sure! Spooktacufur is a one-day convention themed around Halloween! 2024 was our first year. We were at a fairly small venue, an art/theater "warehouse." We had a loft, a café, a main room, and a decent outside area. In terms of things to do, there was plenty! We had the staples, like an artist alley with 15 vendors, and a fursuit parade, but we also had art and craft tables, karaoke, Just Dance, and Halloween-y panels about ghost hunting and the history of Halloween! We filled the venue up to the brim, with 270 attendees, and one owl!
YESHUA: I'm not an expert on putting together events or anything, but for the first time doing one, 270 people is insane! Plus, having so many vendors and enough fursuiters for a parade? That's incredible! Tell me, what was the reception like for the event? What did you hear people saying about it during and after it concluded, or even what did people tell you directly?
ODDIE: Aww, thank you so much!! The reception was overall very good! I had a lot of people give me feedback during and after, which was super awesome. I'd say about 95% of what people had to say was super positive, with the main criticism just being our lack of space. Like I said, we filled that venue to the absolute limit. I've already gone ahead and addressed that issue for next year by moving us to a bigger space! As for positives, let me grab a couple of quotes from the feedback survey we sent out…
"Spooktacufur was the first furry event I have ever attended and I was really impressed with how friendly and welcoming everyone was. I really appreciated the inclusive atmosphere and the wide range of activities that were available. Thanks to everyone who made this event possible!"
"For a pop up "mini" con, it was incredible!! Everyone that came really made the con. It's really incredible to me that the community can really build on each other, and that's exactly what I saw happening. Strudel worked so hard to make this happen, and to me the results were better than expected! This was my friends first fur con/anything furry fandom related. It was a perfect experience! Since it was a smaller con, she was able to have the full con experience and not feel overwhelmed, and she met so many great Utah furs! So thank you!"
"It was amazing to see so many local furs in one place! I know there are lots of local meets ups, but this one felt super special. Halloween is my favorite holiday so I had a blast spending it surrounded by so many friends! Doing the fursuit parade with my friend Alexx particularly felt special!"
YESHUA: It's impressive to hear that a lot of people with different experiences of going to events went to yours! Seems like it was the first furry event for some, so it's great that you were able to give a good first impression to them! Now, how did the idea for the event come up? What led to you organizing it?
ODDIE: To be honest, I'd been wanting to host an event like this for a while, even drafting up ideas and plans for maybe a year or two before this. I wanted to give back to a community that's given me so much! It finally started becoming a reality in early August of 2024, when I got to work finding a place to host it. I thought October sounded like a good month to shoot for, and if something's in October, it HAS to be Halloween themed, right? And thus, Spooktacufur was born.
YESHUA: Pretty straightforward, okay! What was it like actually planning the event? You found the venue, and you managed to get several vendors and host a lot of activities; how did all that come together?
ODDIE: It was fun, but tough! I spent a lot of time working out the logistics, contacting people, and touring possible venues. Once I had the venue, I opened up an application form for vendors. I had people apply to host panels, too. I really appreciate my panelists, they brought a lot of entertainment to the con! The biggest initial challenge was getting the word out. A friend of mine printed flyers for me, and I passed those out in-person at the largest comic con we have in Utah. I worked with United Utah Furry Fandom to have the event endorsed and advertised by them, and I spent a LOT of time just telling people about the con. There was a period of time I was worried no one would come, it was the beginning of October and I'd only managed to sell around 30 tickets (which were only $10-$15 each). I was pretty worried that I'd lose a bunch of money renting the space while also disappointing a lot of people. Thankfully, it turns out that furries just tend to procrastinate buying tickets! As the date of the con got closer, so many ended up selling that I had to briefly pause sales to discuss capacity with the venue!
The days before and of the con were intimidating. I took the day before off of work so that I could finish purchasing/prepping the supplies and decorations. I handmade nametags for my volunteers, got all the arts and craft stuff ready, posted on our Instagram instructions on how to get there and where to park and made a thousand drafts before finally creating the (hopefully) ideal schedule for each of my volunteers.
The worst part, though, was finishing my preparations. You hit a point where nothing more can be done until the next day when you go to the venue, and that was STRESSFUL. I just had to wait it out until the next morning when I could finally see everything happen.
I actually had a crazy nightmare the night before the con. In my dream, it was absolutely POURING rain. I showed up to the venue, which for some reason looked completely different to how I "remembered" it, was partially outside in the rain, and was also now dilapidated and trashed. Some creepy guy was reported to be hanging around, vendors were missing, and everyone was soaking wet.
Luckily, none of it was real, haha. When I woke up, it was sunny out, and everything went as smoothly as you can hope for with a first-time event! My amazing volunteers helped me decorate and set everything up beautifully, and my vendors were honestly the heart of the convention.
We did have a few hiccups, like the parade and group photo being a bit disorganized, and not having adequate room for a fursuit lounge, but I choose to look at these as challenges to overcome next year.
YESHUA: I appreciate you sharing how you prepared and the challenges you had! I think it's worth taking a moment to appreciate just how much people in the fandom work to put on accessible events, so even though I wasn't personally there, thanks for doing this! And I'm sure just about everyone who went appreciated the event as well based on the reactions we talked about before. What was your favorite part of the event, if you can pick one? Or anything in particular you were especially happy with or proud of?
ODDIE: It's hard to choose just one part!! I will say that I was especially proud of how things turned out for my vendors. Many furries came with their wallets open and several booths basically sold out of their merch! That felt like a huge achievement, as someone who vends art I know how hard it can be sometimes.
The end of the night was also very satisfying, as everyone still present came together to clean everything up and pack out. A lot of folks were asking if we'd do it all again next year, and I was overjoyed to announce we would.
YESHUA: Wow, the more you tell me about the event the more impressive it gets! For a one-day event for most vendors to sell out is kinda crazy! I know we talked about the feedback and improvements, but it really seems like it was a sensational debut for the event! Now, of course it's great to address the more essential areas of an event like having more space and being more organized like you mentioned, but I'm also curious to hear what other plans you have for the second edition of Spooktacufur? Any sneak peeks or things folks can look forward to?
ODDIE: I have some fun things cooking! The theme will be "Pumpkin Bash", so you can expect to do some pumpkin painting and other pumpkin related activities! I'm also looking at having HawkWatch International, a Utah-based raptor rescue and research organization, come out with one of their birds to give us a presentation!
YESHUA: I have a feeling a lot of people are gonna enjoy that theme! Plus a bird presentation? Really cool stuff, it seems like you're definitely pushing to make this a memorable event, especially for it being just one day!
I know you said you had ideas as far back as two years before Spooktacufur took place. How do you feel looking back at all the work you did now that you achieved your goal of hosting an event, and even planning a second edition?
ODDIE: Thank you!! I feel really proud of myself, to be honest. I struggle with depression, so having been able to put something like this together really showed me what I'm capable of doing when I take care of myself, y'know? It gives me motivation to keep going. I love the furry community, and I love giving back to all the people in this community. I can't wait to see everyone having fun and making friends again next year!
YESHUA: That's awesome! Not only have others enjoyed the event but it's also helped you in some ways! I feel like we've gotten through a lot regarding Spooktacufur; is there anything else you wanna share about it that maybe we didn't get to?
ODDIE: There's a recap video of the event on YouTube for anyone who's interested!
YESHUA: Oh I bet that'll be especially great for anyone thinking about going in 2025! And what about if people want updates on the event? Where can people find that?
ODDIE: You can see updates on our Instagram, on Bluesky, or on our website, spooktacufur.com!
YESHUA: Awesome! Thanks for sharing that info! It's been great chatting with you about this cool event that's sorta quietly made waves there in West region of the U.S. Before we wrap up, is there anything else you'd like to mention or talk about that we perhaps didn't get to? Or do you think we covered everything pretty well?
ODDIE: I think that's about it! Thanks for the opportunity to share my convention with a wider audience!!
YESHUA: Of course! Thanks so much for taking the time to chat! It's been great having you!

FURRY QUOTE
Hello, everyone! This is Danielle coming back to enlighten your day with an inspiring quote.
WARNING: A hint of a Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie spoiler ahead. Please feel free to skip for now and come back once you’ve seen the movie.
“The light shines, even though the star is gone.”
One of the most anticipated movies near the end of 2024 was Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and for very good reason. Shadow is a beloved character from the franchise, and seeing him brought to life through computer animation got even better. For me, Keanu Reeves was just as fantastic at voicing Shadow as Jason Griffith. Both of these men’s voices vibe with Shadow’s aura very well.
This quote is probably one of, if not, the most memorable thing Shadow said in the movie because of the emotional connection tied to it. I don’t wish to spoil too much, but Shadow reflects on his past while he says this, hearing Maria’s voice echo in his thoughts about the stars. It gets you thinking about how that can apply to real life as well. Things sadly come and go in our lives, but some things like the light from a star stick around and last a lifetime. Certain things may be gone from our lives, but we can always treasure and cherish the love and fond memories that came from it. These are moments where it teaches us life lessons, even if we can’t see or understand them presently. For Shadow, it taught him the importance of the love he shared with Maria and how to let go of the anger that he felt.
I’m sure many of you can relate to this feeling as well. Heartbreak in any kind of form is soul crushing, but time allows for reflection, healing, and discovering your best self. No matter how long it may take to heal from any trauma or heartbreak, stay strong! There’s always something worth fighting for.
